Tumbleweed

My son volunteered to be in a page (actually several) for the western side of the new kit. I truly believe he is an old soul and lived a very long life in the wild west. Some of the first things he ever said were from that time period and things he had never heard us say. This is my little cowboy.

Tumbleweeds

Tumbleweeds. I feel I must say a bit about this kit, a little background. It all started with a musing. A dear friend of mine lives in the south western United States where cactus grow. She asked the question that if all plants have faeries then what do the Cactus Fae look like? It was a good question and a few of us pondered the thought, each giving examples of what we believed their appearance to be. One said chaps and cowboy hats, one wondered about spikes, one considered no wings at all, and we all kind of wondered about sun protection, it is hot there. Serious contemplation was going on and I gave it a great deal of thought myself. You see, I make lots of faerie pages, hundreds, and yet, never a cactus fae. I live in a very wooded area and have flower gardens so woodland and flower faeries are what I do. Oh, I do throw in an occasional frost faerie in the winter and water faerie in the summer for variety, I love seasons. I think though, because of my location, the poor cactus fae never crossed my mind. I felt bad (OK not really but stay with me here I'm on a roll). So, I decided to feature the under represented Cactus Fae in a kit, not just for them but for my friend as well. They are after all her garden faeries. So, Tivi, I hope you like it and can use it to see your faeries, the beautiful Cactus Fae. Now, I couldn't really stop there could I? I mean, how many of you actually have a need to create cactus faerie pages? I know, all of you do, of course, now that you've seen the neglect. But, in case you don't, I have also made it an Old West kit which goes nicely with cactus. Everyone at some point has a cowboy or cowgirl in their life and we all know (or are) people who love westerns. So this kit works on both levels. There is a wanted poster, cowboy hat, horse shoe, cards (dead man's hand of course), a gun, badge, jail keys, along with the wings and faerie hats (sun protection), alpha, word arts, desert plants, and lots of other things! Oh, and a tumbleweed because everybody needs a tumbleweed!

Chronic

I'm in love. My heart feels like it could burst from being over filled. I wake up each morning and immediately run to the windows and open them wide to take in all the changes that the new day has delivered. Spring. Each day shows fresh blooms, leaves, and waking animals. The Fae are hard at work, brown is being replaced by pale green, birds sing, and the air... the air breathes new life into my soul. These are days so perfect that I wonder at how people cannot want to do for others as beautifully as Mother Nature is doing for us? Perhaps I have Spring fever, but if I do, I hope it's chronic, contagious, and you catch it. If you have the opportunity, please enjoy the day for there will never be another like it. Breathe deeply the Spring air and let Mother Nature work her spell on you.

Easter Bunny

Easter morning. I remember one so well, it was my favorite Easter. I can't really tell you what was in my basket that year, other then the chocolate bunny and peeps because they were always in my basket but I can remember the morning. It was magic. I slept in a full size canopy bed. It had a light, grass green, gingham canopy and comforter and there was matching curtains on my window tied back with bows. I was such a princess. Anyway, I remember sleeping the night before Easter in my beautiful bed, half sleeping or so I thought, dreaming and waiting with that feeling of anticipation. The feeling where you just know magical things are about to happen. I must have fell asleep because I awoke. The sun was drifting through my curtained windows, not the harsh sunlight of typical mornings but a warm, soft, diffused light. It lit my room in an unusual way, shimmering across it in beams. My room glittered. All around was tied sparkly, tulle bows, and glittering eggs that were barely hidden. There were little bags of candy tied to the posts of my canopy, flowers, chicks and bunny stuffed animals, and a huge basket on my dresser. I had woke up to a beautiful Easter land. The bunny had came. It was the only year the bunny decorated my room but to this day I remember it perfectly. Each year I try to bring some of that glittering magic into my kids' Easter morning. Someday, I hope they will remember and create it for their own children. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, perhaps it will be a perfect, shimmering morning...

Defiance Of A Sun Sprite

Hehehe, it's melting, it's melting, la lala lala!!! The little sun sprite in me is dancing for joy as I watch the sun in all it's golden splendor melt away that spring time snow. Only about three inches left to melt! By the end of today, it will all be gone and my crocus will be back. I hope the rest of the plants fare as well. Some can withstand these late snows, others wither and must start anew. Thankfully, the fairer weather ones were not up that far yet. It looks like the Old Man Winter just got up for a drink of water, hopefully now he's out for the night.

ps. new blog design is from my next kit... coming soon!

Snow?

OK, I thought I tucked Old Man Winter in tight. I could have swore I kissed him goodnight, pulled the blankets up to his chin and whispered, "sleep tight, job well done.". I know I did. My flowers thought it was spring, my trees were budding out, the ground was thawing, it was a beautiful thing. So, why exactly am I sitting in snow again? I really don't know why I'm so surprised. Nearly every year this happens, my beautiful spring turns once again into a winter wonderland. This is what I woke up too yesterday and it's still snowing. Hopefully, soon, I'll be able to see sunshine and flowers again...
